Mixing Engineer Ballarat-Melbourne

Professional mixing for artists

Jack Guy provides professional music mixing for independent artists, bands and producers in Melbourne, Ballarat and remotely across Australia.

With more than three decades of experience as a producer, engineer and mixer, Jack brings clarity, depth, impact and emotional connection to every track while keeping the character of the artist and song intact.

Mixing

A strong mix makes every important part of a song feel intentional. Jack works through balance, tone, dynamics, space, automation, and creative production detail to create a finished track that translates across headphones, cars, home speakers, and streaming platforms.

Mixing is available for singles, EPs, albums, alternative versions, and release-ready projects.

Stem Delivery

You can send full Pro Tools, Logic, or Luna sessions, or consolidated audio stems from any DAW.

For the smoothest workflow, send:

  • One WAV file per track or stem

  • All files starting from the same point in the timeline

  • No limiting or clipping on files

  • Clearly labelled files

  • A rough mix or reference track

  • Notes on what matters most in the song

If you are unsure how to prepare your files, get in touch before exporting, and Jack can guide you through it.

Revisions

The mix process is collaborative. After receiving the first mix, you can send clear revision notes, and Jack will refine the mix around what matters to you.

Useful revision notes might include:

  • “Bring the lead vocal forward in the chorus”

  • “Make the drums feel bigger”

  • “The guitar is too bright”

  • “Use the tone of this reference track as a guide”

The goal is not to chase endless changes it is to make sure the final mix feels right for the artist and the release.

Remote or In Person Workflow

Remote Mixing

Send your stems online, include your notes and references, and receive your mix digitally. This is ideal if you have recorded at home, in another studio, or outside Melbourne.

In-Person Mixing

For Melbourne- and Ballarat-based artists, an in-person listening and mix-review session can be arranged where appropriate. This is a great option for artists who want to discuss direction in the room and hear decisions unfold together.

Genres & Projects

Jack works across a broad range of artist-led music, including:

  • Rock and alternative

  • Pop

  • Singer-songwriter

  • Indie

  • Jazz

  • Electronic and programmed music

  • Guitar-based music

  • Vocal-driven releases

The approach always starts with the record in front of us: its story, energy, references, and audience.

Turnaround

Turnaround depends on the number of tracks, session complexity, revisions, and release deadline. Singles are generally scheduled before larger projects such as EPs and albums.

If you have a release date in mind, include it in your enquiry. Booking early is the best way to allow enough time for mixing, revisions, mastering, and delivery.
